HOW TO SIZE A COVE HEATER TO YOUR ROOM

Properly sizing your alCove cove heater to your specific room size and type is an important step in optimizing comfort and reducing energy waste. A cove heater that is too large for the space will not heat the space more quickly.

A heater that is too large for the room will continue to heat for an extended period of time beyond the temperature set point, wasting energy. We call this a temperature swing. Alternatively, a heater that is too small will run for a longer period of time than would be necessary with a properly sized heater.

Use the below 4 easy steps to calculate the optimal alCove heater size in watts per square foot.

Step 1. Select the heating zone your space is located in

Step 2. Select the voltage required for your heater
(120V, 208V or 240V)

If you’re replacing an old heater, the new heater needs to be the same voltage. Check the product label of the old heater for the correct voltage rating.

For a new installation check your supply voltage with a voltage meter or consult with a licensed electrician. We generally recommend a 240 volt heater and installing a new, dedicated 240 volt circuit for the heater.

NEVER ASSUME you know the right voltage. Be 100% sure you’re getting the correct voltage heater.

Step 3. Select the insulation values that best describes the insulation used in your space

Step 4. Select all rooms you would like to heat and then enter the ceiling height, length and width for each room.
